STEP #3 - How to Find Your Place in the Body of Christ
Every believer has a unique place of service in the local church. True fulfillment comes as you find your place and you become a blessing to the body of Christ. Some believers never find their place because of pride, insecurity, preoccupation with other things, laziness, fear or rebellion. As a result, their usefulness to the Lord is limited, and the flow of blessings from the Lord is hindered.
Listed below are some practical ways which will help you to find your place of service:
1. Be submitted and obedient to the Lord (John 14:15-18, 1 John 5:3, 1 Peter 5:6, James 4:7-10).
2. Be willing to work whenever and wherever you are needed (Romans 12:1, Hebrews 6:10-12).
3. Be faithful in tasks that may seem small and unnoticed (Philippians 2:14).
4. Pray for God to show you your place (1 John 5:14-15).
5. Develop a servant spirit, serving the body of Christ in love (Romans 12:4-8, 1 Peter 4:10).
6. Consider your unique abilities and desires (Proverbs 18:16).
7. Develop your gifts through whatever training is available (Matthew 11:29, Philippians 2:1-4, Philippians 4:9).
8. Submit yourself to your local church leadership and consider their evaluation of your ministry gifts (Hebrews 13:17, 1 Peter 5:5).
9. If you are a new convert (believer), get to know the Lord and His Word first before you seek a place of service (1 Peter 2:2, 1 Timothy 3:6).
10. Get involved in small groups or home Bible study groups, if your church has them (2 Timothy 2:15).
11. Walk in love (Romans 12:9-21, Ephesians 5:1-5, 1 John 3:10-11,1 John 4:7-21, 1 John 5:2-3, 1 Corinthians ch. 13, Galatians 5:13-14).
