What Does the Bible Say About Prayer?
1 John 5:14-15 (NKJV) - Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
John 15:7 (NKJV) - "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.
Mark 9:23 (NKJV) - Jesus said to him, "If you can believe, all things [are] possible to him who believes."

Jesus Gave Us a Model for Prayer - The Lord's Prayer
Matthew 6:9-13 (NKJV) - "In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as [it is] in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

- Ask for God's protection from Satan and to be delivered from any hold (attack) Satan may attempt to use on you.
- Praise God, acknowledging His Sovereignty (supreme power and authority - remember He created us), His might (power to act), and glory (excellence & honor) forever.
- We close saying, "In the name of Jesus. Amen." (John 14:12-14, John 16:23).
How Do We Pray?
Take Your Time in Prayer & Pray Often
As you grow to know the Lord more, you will feel more comfortable praying to Him. Learning the parts of the model prayer above can help guide you as you begin to express your thoughts in prayer to God. Do not feel like you need to rush your prayer or sound like anyone else. Do not feel like you need to pray as long as anyone else. Pray what is on your heart until you have got it out, however short or long it may be. You do not need to repeat yourself over and over, He hears you (Matthew 6:5-8). Remember, this is your time with the Father as you pray in the name of Jesus. The Bible tells us to pray without ceasing, pray always, and in everything give thanks (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, Ephesians 6:18). Once you have prayed according to His Word, in faith, He has heard you. You have your answer. Endure until you see it, and go from making the request in ongoing prayer on the matter to just thanking Him for it being done.
Pray Sincerely & In Faith
Speak to our Father in heaven from your heart. Let Him know what's happening and hold on to His Word about the matter you are praying for. Pray His Word back to Him (verbatim or paraphrased with the Biblical meaning intact). When prayed in faith (trusting & relying on Him), it will be done. Meditating on Scriptures that focus on the need you are praying for will build your faith muscles to believe (Hebrews 11:1, Romans 10:17). Some areas of prayer and Scriptures to have in prayer are below. Keep meditating (reading the Scriptures, thinking about what it says and means, envisioning yourself receiving your answer), this builds your faith and helps guard your heart against doubt.
In the Name of Jesus
Thank God that you know he has heard because you prayed according to His promises on the matter. Trust and rely on God to bring His Word to pass in your situation. Your faith moves God. It shows that you know He loves you. Your obedience in having faith demonstrates your love for Him (John 14:15-18, 1 John 2:3). It shows that you know He has already given you the biggest gift ever (salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ), so why would He not freely give us all things (Romans 8:31-32). It shows that you now rest in knowing you have the petition you have asked for. This is done in the name of Jesus Christ (John 14:12-14, John 16:23).
